Joe Good, III leads Olson & Good's Entertainment Law practice. Joe Good, former touring drummer for Red Eye Recording artist (Chapel Hill, NC) Five Way Friday, has logged years on the road all over America. As an undergraduate at the University of South Carolina, Joe logged many hours as an intern for Grammy Award winning Artist Hootie & the Blowfish at their management company Fishco Management.
Joe also worked during college at Atlantic Records subsidiary Breaking Records. Further, Joe was a marketing representative for Aware Records (Chicago), EMI Records (New York City), and Ignition Marketing (Los Angeles). After graduation from law school, Joe became a principal with Olson & Good Law Firm where he began practicing civil and criminal litigation as well as day to day legal work for music venues, management companies, and recording artists, among other industry professionals.
Throughout Joe’s career as a musician, his former band Five Way Friday was often featured on network television and had a song that was nominated as the most popular song of the year by an independent artist on the WB Network. Following the release of a record recorded in 2000 at Memphis, Tennessee’s famed Ardent Studios, the album went on to achieved Top 5 status in Internet album sales in Billboard magazine (behind such notables as Shania Twain and Celine Dion). Having toured from Maine to Miami and everywhere in between, Joe Good has the perspective both from the stage and on the legal side in the conference room negotiating deals.
It is important for each and every client to see both their long and short term goals with regards to entering into any agreement in the music or sports business. As attorneys, our job is to help our clients to see in between the four corners of any agreement they are entering into with a prospective business partner, be it a manager, record company, booking agent, or any type of business relationship. Having an experienced third-party represent any athlete or artist is essential early in any negotiations that will be reduced to a writing and that will bind that musician, actor, athlete, manager, or producer." ~ Joe Good
Joe Good has been a huge asset to our band. In our business, quick solutions to problems are a must. Also, whenever I have needed a contract reviewed or a telephone call or e-mail returned, Joe is always very quick to get me an answer. Accessibility and communication is a must with any attorney we work with, and we are glad we have found one that meets our needs in order to help us successfully continue the pursuit of our careers as musicians.” ~Parker Gins, drums, Crowfield
